Takuya Furukawa’s

The image on the front cover visually describes Major Internal Structure, and its definitions are literally described on the back. It is obvious that the image can interpret thousands of words in this case. However, images are sometimes less reliable as the communication than text alone because they have a potential to metaphorically manipulated –i.e. when there are pictures of McDonalds and smiling international students, the former might negatively effect the word of globalisation although the latter effects positive. Therefore, designers have to carefully manipulate the function of texts and images to communicate meanings of languages. In this dictionary, meanings of languages are interpreted as definition(s), example(s) or reference(s) and image(s).
