Maybe they could be one of the first galleries in Iceland to do serious design exhibitions (like The Design Musuem does) as well as serious art shows. Around this grows all the other smaller economies - local crafts etc. Do you know The Pier gallery in Orkney? It reminds me of this setting - very remote, but an international art destination nonetheless. One of the best exhibitions I have ever seen was there - Joseph Beuys show of his sleighs etc - all concerned with notions of survival; human and environmental. Can't wait to hear about your trip and would love to be involved in this if at all possible.
